For years, I have endured countless projects in the garage or at a workbench that never had enough light where one needs it.
Positioning flashlights with tape or props was frequent and inadequate. Drop lights were a joke. They blow the bulbs every time you tap it or put it down (not to mention burns when the covers were metal. Tensor lamps with articulated arms were a good idea because you could position the light; however, most on the market have flimsy mounts, no real brightness and short tiny arms. Task lighting is stationary and most commercial units do not have up/down positioning.
I finally had enough of working in the ?Dark Ages?. We set out to create a stable, wall mounted shop light that would allow the lamp to be set and locked at heights and positions that the user needed. It had to have articulated arms for up/down movement and a swivel mount for lateral positioning. The lamp had to be super-bright and use LED technology. The total span had to cover a large work area and the LED lamp had to be directionally adjustable as well.
Current LED lighting technology has finally made it possible to generate sufficient light at a fraction of the energy used before. We incorporated a high quality 100 Watt 110 VAC lamp which uses high-powered 2835 LEDs to generate 10,000 lumens of glorious light where you need it.
We built one and we love it. We reasoned that many others must be struggling with the same work area lighting problems that we had. We are now offering a version of our Shop Light / Work Light for US domestic sales via the Internet.
